I could certainly use a bit of Hawaii to change into.
I also enjoy having the extra time for a relaxing shave.
Sat. - house clean up day
Sun. - Church and Football day
I generally will try to fit in a nap or two when I can.
Saturday is a work day. However, I usually manage to sleep in a little bit and walk to the farmer's market with the fam. Then, I finish my sermon, maybe visit a couple shut-ins, hear confessions, and pray Vespers before heading home late afternoon. Then my wife makes a great meal (as usual) and we hang out with our son, read together, blog, or maybe watch a movie together.
Sunday morning, I teach Bible class, say Mass and preach to my beloved congregation, get things straightened up after the service, chit-chat with parishioners, walk home with my wife and son, and if I'm lucky, we all have a sacred Sunday afternoon nap.
But no matter what day it is, weekday or weekend, the first activity of the morning is the cappuccino ritual. It sets the tone for the day. Oh, and another thing for the clergy: wearing a classic black cassock in public is manly!
Great topic!
When I do have one or both of 'em free, the bride & I usually go visit our niece (2) & nephew (4), which is as close as we can (or want to) be to having kids. (Mom, Grandma, & one or two "aunts" (friends of mom or grandma) are usually there, too.) Occasionally it's a trip to the park or zoo, but usually it's an afternoon on the deck, with music & all of us being as childish as the kids, and being amazed at how quickly they grow & change...
Since dad isn't in the picture, & grandpa has some health issues, most of the horseplay & assorted roughhousing falls to me, which makes it fun (most of the time... I'm not the picture of good health, either, but I'm workin' on it...)
The wife and I usually manage to squeeze in an hour or two for ourselves, even when we've only got one of the two days together, & plans with the kids, besides...
And yes, like everyone else, the laundry, the yard, & the housework does take some of the weekend away, too... (Gotta do it sometime, and if we didn't have the time during the week...)
Saturdays usually consist of a couple of hours of volunteer work in the morning followed by some yard work at home. Then I'll usually try a catch some college football action before heading out on a date.
Sundays are mostly spent at church and hanging out with friends.
Sundays: wake earlier, either fix heavy carb-laden breakfast, or go for a 2-hour bicycle ride or hiking. Clean kitchen, do meal planning & food shopping for the coming week. Watch Iron Chef America, if new.
Sunday: Sleep in (10:00am). Brunch. Study for coming week. Work. Hang out with gf.
(There's actually some truth to that, since I just found your site a few weeks ago.)
I usually find time to work through some of my photography course as well, off camera lighting is an involving subject..
* playing outside with the kids / visiting with the neighbors
* surfing whenever possible, but this *is* the east coast... :(
* back porch bluegrass (banjo, guitar, and washtub bass... anybody play mandolin?)
* babysitters/grandparents so we can have date night
Afterwards....update the resume!
Making hard cider
Renovating the garage as an outdoor living room
Doing yard work
Taking the dogs on long walks
Kayaking on a slow-moving river
Cooking food for the pregnant wife
I love this time of year.
As for weekends - the last few have been like most weekend, some yard work, a little time spent getting caught up and prepared for the week ahead, Sunday BBQ and beer and of course, working on the big bailout plan...
peace,
HMK
That leaves Saturday and Sunday open for bike rides to the donut shop, and hobbies.
Well, the Wife and I get up early on Saturday to head into the local farmers market the next town over to stock up on produce. Right now, that also means that when we get home, we can to prepare for the winter. Saturday is also our 'clean-the-house' day, so we scrub down the kitchen and the bathroom and do other chores around the apartment we need to get done.
Sunday, I get up closer to noon and cook brunch for the two of us, and we mostly just lounge around working on whatever sorts of projects we'd like.
Saturday is laundry/chore day unless there's something going on around the city that tickles my fancy.
Sunday I make pancakes for breakfast, get a little design work done, then go to my parents house for dinner. What better way to end the weekend than having a little cognac with the old man?
Mid day, my brother-in-law and I will decide on what to cook for the family dinner, and usually will include homemade sausage, beer-butt chicken and a few racks of ribs. Looowww and slooooooowwwwww cooking....which means the cooler full of beer and some nice cigars.
Sundays are for Church, fried chicken and lounging in the den watching football.
Nothing says "Surf's Up" like dissecting turtles.
"Unplug" usually involves college football, and hopefully watching or playing some golf.
Nice Shirts!
If it's raining, I'll just stay in and mess around on the web or hop in the cage and go visit my niece and nephew.
Saturday
- rise early and take a long walk with the dog
- pay bills in the morning
- yard/work or chores mid-day
- sports (watching, refereeing, watching the kid) in the afternoon
- something fun with the wife in the evening
Sunday
- rise early and take a long walk with the dog
- putter around the house while the wife and kid sleep in
- brunch, either in or out
- watch sports in the afternoon
- 5:30p mass
- prep for the week
I am a creature of habit!
But typically, my weekend also involves sitting at home with my wife and dog, drinking beers, and watching a movie and/or football. Always football on Saturday afternoons, though - go Michigan State!
And yes, my wife both drinks beer and watches football!
Saturdays are pretty wild-card when it comes to plans. Usually it's reserved strictly for fun or for occasional errands: Haircut, clothes shopping, football game, BBQ, etc. We usually have friends over fofr BBQ and games on Saturday night.
Sunday is cleaning day. My girlfriend and I have assigned chores that we knock out Sunday. We clean the house top-to-bottom on Sundays so that only light touch-up work is needed during the week. The rest of the day on Sunday is spent walking on the trail, cooking for the week (bread, muffins, etc.).
Overall, it's a very nice, relaxing weekend.
Saturday: Leisurely work day-- Usually weekly chores, such as laundry, mowing, cleaning, etc. Complete at least one project, whether it is paint a room, hang a new gutter, change oil in vehicles, whatever. Night time involves a nice activity, such as a good book, or go to a movie, or, as of late, a night of cards with some friends.
Sunday: Usually relaxation day-- Catch some sports on TV, or live. Catch up on any reading, or movies to watch. Spend some time making a great supper. Sometimes, there are family suppers, parents, siblings, aunt, uncles, cousins, all attend for a potluck style feast.
Very occasionally, we are caught up and plan-less. On those weekends, we just rest and enjoy time with each other.
Sundays are catch up day. Get started on those hard core chores that can't be done during the week due to my work schedule, starting new projects, or heading down to the tool store "to look." Or I'll be driving/walking/biking around taking pictures and posting on my blog.
Soon weekends will be taken up by shopping for a house and all the thousand and one chores that means. Probably a little gardening, some home remodeling, and upgrading the house to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Sunday's are for Mass, doing somethign with the girls, and finishing off that huge piece of meat.
This isn't "relaxing," this is LIVING LIFE.
Saturdays are filled with chores, then football (if applicable), then relaxing, usually with a cookout and friends.
Sundays begin with church and a nice brunch, then relaxing in the afternoon, often at the park or while taking a nice walk or bike ride. Projects get worked on on Sundays as well, and occasionally a sporting event is enjoyed.
Sunday it's more of the same. Wake up, go to chuch, then I've got close to 5 hours to catch up on internet happenings, maybe some Team Fortress 2, then to work again until midnight.
Mix and repeat for each weekend.
Saturday is for collage football, at least in the fall. Other then that it's either yardwork, carwork, or housework. Saturday may see a day hike or long bike ride as well. In the evening... well that's another topic
Sunday is for a late breakfast, the paper, brewing beer and catching up on work a bit.
Sunday, dry the laundry... more football, more beer and more grilling.
The idea is to do relax and enjoy. I've got a couple of these (we called them Panama Shirts back when the weapons fit nicely underneath) they are awesome
1. Wake up and go to work
2. Come home
3. Unpack boxes
4. Assemble new furniture
5. Fight of sleep and unpack more boxes
6. Break down boxes
7. Think of sleep
8. Pass out while unpacking boxes
9. wake up on the floor in the living room and repeat starting at no. 1
After the next few months... I'd definitely like to wear a Hawaiibera shirt while cooking up some dogs in the backyard!
Cheers
Lucas
Next day is mountain biking day or clean up day.
3:30 am, repeat.
6:00 am, repeat
8:30 am, repeat.
Go to a yard sale, or don't.
Do yard work.
Go to the gym.
Grade papers.
Nap.
Yawn.
Get ready for another night of feeding. Tell you what, baby. Let's both give up eating for a while.
Saturday afternoon is family time with errands, play, mowing, etc. I ususally girll a good meal that evening for me and the Mrs.
Sunday - we all head to church. Our pastor makes us laugh outloud and think at the same time. Sunday afternoon, I play golf with the boys every other weekend or will spend the afternoon with family watching NFL football and playing wrestle with my 1, 3, and 4 year olds. Weekends - they are good!
Saturday: We do our pregame walkthrough from 9-10a. Coaches stay behind and prep/line the field, set up the concessions/announcer's booth, etc. Grab some lunch around 1p. Kids show up for the first of 4 games around 2p. First game kickoff is at 3p. Games run continuously until 10p under the lights. By the time we get everything cleaned up and put away I get home around 11p.
Sunday: Wake up and make a big breakfast for the family (usually pancakes and bacon. Head to church for 11a mass. After mass, we spend time as a family. This time of year Sundays are for going to the park, visiting the grandparents, apple picking, or just playing around in the backyard. Sunday evenings I watch the Rutgers game Tivo'd from Saturday.
Once peewee football season is over (at the end of October), I'll spend my Saturdays doing yardwork/cleanup and prepping the house for the winter.

AND everything from chores, to movie days (can you say Star Wars marathon?) to spending time with my lovely girlfriend. A trip to see the fall colors at a state park was the main activity this past weekend.
Next weekend I'll be brewing beer with some buddies and doing work around the house. Of course, I also find time to do homework for school and after-hours work for customers in the middle of everything else I have going on. It's a busy life, but I have a great time enjoying every minute of it!
During the days however, I try to get as many chores done around the home, whether it's to clean up, sharpen my knives, or think of a dinner special to serve at work. I also run a morning roadwork and do a little circuit training to keep in shape because I tend to graze a lot of food at work, don't want to put on the extra pounds.
It's not all bad spending weekend nights working. I get to see many good looking female customers, get to flirt with the waitresses, and bullshit around with my fellow cooks. We're a good and organized team who knows how to have fun.
When the shift is over, I have my usual after-shift beer and after-shift shot of Johnnie Black or Gran Marnier, whichever one the bartender is able to sneak to me first.
Most of the other weekends either I spend working on DIY projects at home, i.e. soldering electronics, building PCs, etc, or I spend hanging out with my friends and reading/playing video games.
However, I definitely have my weekend staples. At least once, every weekend, you will definitely find me cooking on an open flame. I will always make time for a quick nap on Saturday. And I spend my time with God (which is pretty much every day). And soon I will my daughter will be born and I will be doing lots with her on my weekends.
Guayaberas are simply awesome. I have half a dozen. They're stylish and they make a great impression, especially here in Canada where you don't see them very often.

Usually a family activity or two, cooking on the Big Green Egg (last weekend we smoked 4 pork shoulders), sporting clays, cigars and some much appreciated time down time.
I don't typically get weekends off (alas, the brutal reality of being a surgical resident), so Friday is really no different from any other day for me. Nevertheless, it has that "feel" of the end of a week, even if I still have to get up at 5am the next morning. So I take a break from my usual activities and try to spend more time with my wife, who is patiently counting the hours until I'm done with residency. If I manage to get home at a decent hour, I'll take her out for dinner or a movie... or we'll just rent a movie and snuggle up on the couch in PJs, with warm apple pie à la mode. Sometimes we play some music and browse through pictures or work on our family scrapbook.
It's not much, but every little bit counts.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm the luckiest dude around.
Its not all beer though, there are always sazerac, swizzles, rum and absinthe (maybe even martinis).
Sunday, church, breakfast with my wife and the paper, relax in the afternoon, maybe a stroll on the beach.
And NEVER think about work.
Saturdays, however, tend to have a bit more substance. Usually I'll sleep a bit late then take a nice, long, hot, relaxing shower. After that I usually spend the remainder of the morning and early afternoon at my hobby: Restoring and cleaning/sharpening old swords and knives. The evening is usually spent either having a cook-out with my friends (I make some killer ribs) or reading.
On Sunday, if we didn't cook out on Saturday (Read: It was too cold to cook on the grill), my friends and I get together and make a nice Sunday breakfast (Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, grits, etc.). Then I'll spend the rest of the day working at my hobby and/or reading.
All in all, I lead a pretty simple life. Don't have a TV so the only things to do are read, use the internet, and spend time with my blades. Periodically I'll go out on the weekends to find something new to fix up, but that happens about once a month, not regularly.
My typical weekend activities include blogging, running, and spending time with my fam.
After Ramball, back home for a shower (to be clean for the Mrs.), do the regular chores around the house (laundry, dishes, floors, etc.). If the weather is right, we'll spend the afternoon at the beach or the pool with the kids, perfect time to sport the Hawaiiabera! If I'm lucky, I might be able to catch a football game or two.
Sunday is church day, and that Hawaiiabera shirt will be feeling nice after a morning in a shirt and tie.

Saturday AM is big breakfast morning! Eggs, sausage, omelets, etc.. anything goes! Usually we have something planned for the day like a visit to friends/relatives, going to a park or beach, or perhaps washing the cars and working in the garden. Saturday night we sometimes go out to eat for a treat.
Sunday is the Lords day, Church time, then home to wrap up any loose ends before the week starts. Usually spent at home,
Then again, other weekends, we just wing it the whole way!
Having studied under the greats, Don the Beachcomber, Trader Vic, Burt Reynolds, I'll shake up something special; a Mai-Tai, possibly a Zombie. Whatever the mood reflects. The garage calls; there's lumber to be hewn, and iron for welding. What's that, you'd like me to carve another tiki for the garden? Certainly, honey.
Nightime means having the gang over, to share my mixological skills and, if we're lucky, watch some hockey. If only America had rugby. Alas. When did I have time to smoke a pork butt and grill T-bones for the crew? It's all part of the package, and sorry ladies, this guy's taken.
Sunday it's time for a ride; let's head down to the zoological gardens, and observe those crazy monkeys. Man, I dig watching monkeys. Who said Adventure Golf? Sure, we can go a few rounds, knocking our putts through the crashed plane and over the 'gator pit. Since that sure works up a thirst, we'll probably head over to the Shake Pit, and get malts. Man, that's living.
Homeward bound, and just enough time for a port and my pipe. Ready for work yet? Not so fast, Jack, this fella needs to relax a little with some good reading; Kon-Tiki, yeah, that's one read worth a repeat.
Only five more days 'til we re-convene!
1. Football
2. Football
3. Football
Go Rutgers!
Sundays are for golf with the lady friend.
I figure if I can find someone to sponsor me, I could quit my day job and golf everyday. Then by the time I'm 50, I'll be ready for the senior tour - any takers?
Read the news.
Catch up on any Colbert or Jon Stewart that I may have missed over the week.
Sleep, rest, chill.
Saturday
Go out with friends and play some b-ball.
Sunday
Church.
The weekend starts a little before 5pm when a coworker and I head to the liquor store to pick up some beers and head back to the office. We hangout on the upstairs balcony overlooking the airport and drink, watch planes, and wait out rush hour. Saturday is a random day, sometimes go on a day trip, sometimes work on side projects, sometimes run errands. If the weather is nice, I'll sit outside and read. If friends are available, Saturday night is usually spent with them. Sunday, after a nice brunch with the girlfriend, is cleaning day. Clean up the house, run the laundry, then do homework for the evening class I'm taking.
saturday is all about getting up, making a huge breakfast for the family and then taking some time with the tv. sometimes a trip out for some hiking. sometimes a little guitar playing. and sometimes a great big pile of nothing!
sunday is fix-it day and the mandatory afternoon nap.
The rest of the weekend is usually a combo of video games, nights out and occasional worrying on whether I'll still make the rent.
Saturday afternoons, the wife, the toddler and the baby take long naps: I go out onto the back patio with a cigar, a beverage, and a good book.
Saturday night = date night with the wife, regardless of whether or not we actually leave the house. We've had some very sexy Scrabble games, she and I...In fact, we'll forego higher scoring turns, in favor of flirty words. (There's more than one way to score, wink-wink).
Sunday mornings are for church.
Sunday late afternoon marks the start of family time: I cook a big family dinner, oftentimes hosting family and friends. These are big, hearty meals, deliberate celebrations of our time together and the blessings we enjoy. We laugh a lot, relax, eat well, and are generally ready to tackle the new week on Monday.
True.
So I know where this article is coming from. Can't beat the old wold ways of a gentleman. All I need now is a first class straw panama.
So what do I do - I work like a dog to earn some first class chill time.
Charles
Then maybe take a walk with my wife, or ride my bikes for a few hours.
That's about it. We don't often have huge weekend plans. :) Or, more typically, my weekends are spent planning for one _big_ weekend of _big_ plans.
But mostly it's a dedication to recharging my batteries for the coming work week.
Sundays have a bit of a routine. We go to church and then come home for a big breakfast/brunch. Our other meal is a big, early dinner. Depending on the situation, I may take the kids fishing for a few hours or we may all wash our vehicles. Regardless, my wife finishes washing any laundry. I will usually spend some time on the grill preparing for dinner. After dinner, we all wind down and prepare for the new week.
Great commercial for the shirt.
MSgt Strick sez "Wear Sum"
I'll fit out my five man crew with these!
Sundays are for football (Go Chargers!) and barbeques. More often than not, the wife and I will end up taking the boys to the movies, the park, or the local putt-putt. It doesn’t get much better than that.
I am fortunate enough to have Mondays off as well (10 hour work days). The wife’s at work, the kids are at school, and I go to the casino. I can’t think of anything cooler than sitting at the Blackjack table in that Hawaiiabera shirt.
But this is really about my man, who, by the way, would LOVE this shirt...which would be the reason I am probably the only lady friend posting a comment for this contest!! He & I try to go on a date on Friday night, then his weekend is pretty much consumed right now by the amazing deck he is building, church on Sunday, dinner with either his parents or my extended family, & possibly some working time for his second job.
Thanks,
Bruce
Sat:
Watch my college (TEXAS A&M- Whoop!) play football. (And likely for this season, I will be watching us lose most of our games)
Run errands, make a plan for the evening
Follow through with those plans -- usually going to a concert or live music, exploring a new bar or club, or going to parties hosted by other like-minded individuals. Last week it was a "Pimp and Ho" party. Sidenote: There were very few Gentleman pimps. Mostly cheezy halloween costumes. Except for a couple, one wore a solid white and the other a Black Pinstripe suit, both had white hats with a black accent, and carried a real cane. THAT was a gentlemanly way to attend!)
Sunday=Football. (and monitoring my Fantasy Player's performance via Stat Tracker and NFL.com.) All day. I usually don't even open the door on Sunday, much less put clothes on. I also consume a steak, burger, etc that my manly man Joe grills up just right!
PS- I know I'm one of the only gals posting to this, but I would totally love to give this shirt to my brother- he is the vintage hawaiian shirt king.
During the summer months, my family and I spend our time outdoors. We take bicycle rides to the park or the community pool. We grill outside in out backyard with family. We travel to the family farm to visit my Mom and Dad and let our kids see the animals. Sometimes we ride our bikes to the city library to get books to read outside.
During the fall months, we still spend a lot fo time outdoors. We like to go to the local University and watch my youngest brother play football. Sometimes we even travel to his away games. Work picks up on the farm, so its a good time to get a ride in the combine or on the tractor. Fall seems like the best time to go camping to me, before it gets too cold at night, but it still is pleasant during the day.
During the winter months we stay indoors and do housework on the weekends. We also like to watch movies and television. It's a great time to catch up on my computer hobby, working on old computers and installing Linux on them to perform various tasks. (Our home is getting "smarter" all the time!)
Spring is the season where work starts to pick up again. Usually I spend some time grilling outdoors, even thought it is too cold, because I just can't wait to do it again. Time to start on the outdoor work again, cleaning up the lawn and doing any house work that was put off in the fall.
I already wear Hawaiian shirts, and I think one more would be a great addition to my collection. Since I'm an Engineer, I can't wear them at work, but I spend most weekends wearing one!
Most of them involve the use of a tablesaw, plywood, and a pneumatic nail gun.
I never wear a shirt while I'm woodworking.
Sundays are chore days and catching up on my reading.
I have a 4 day work week so I usually try to spend some quality time with the family between work and travel its hard but important to do.
Thanks for the giveaway.

So far I'm at a conversational level in German, American Sign Language, Japanese, and I'm now working on French.
Friday is family night, Saturday is Date night.
My kindergartener and I watch a bit of BYU football.
I'm learning to take care of my yard. Progress is slow, but it's kind of fun.
Even when it's packed with church meetings, Sunday is a treasured day of rest from the activities of the other six days of the week!
but now I can't get them, what a way to go back in my mind too NO SNOW DAYS.
Sunday is relaxed - sleep late, make a big breakfast, hang out with friends, cook, and/or whatever; there's no set routine.
1. Taking my guns to the shooting range for a couple of hours.
2. Sharpening my knives.
3. Building a bonfire with my brothers.
4. Dropping cans of spray paint in said bonfire.
5. Hiking.
6. Camping.
7. Working on my foxhole radios.
During the week, my wife handles the evening meals, but on Saturday, it's my time to cook breakfast and then we generally do some work around the house. Saturday evening's are just kicked back time around the television.
Sunday is my day to honor my God and to recharge and remember that I'm among the most blessed of all the people on the earth to live in this amazing country. Growing up here has allowed me the freedom to hear the truth and to worship without fear the finest example of the Art of Manliness ever known.
- Jesus.
God knew what He was doing when He made a day of rest! We hold down the activities and spend time with each other. Even the strongest of men need some time to get centered again and I take advantage of it when I can.
Friday nights in the fall, I chaperone the high school marching band at football games.
I love Sundays.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have looked forward to Sunday every week. Unlike Saturday, Sunday is a day when most people leave me alone. My phone doesn’t ring. I have no meetings to attend. No one is waiting on something for me to send them. And it’s on Sundays that I get to hang out with the guys.
You see, I have eight children ranging from 11 years down to five months. So, I learned early on that if I wanted to stay happily married, I couldn’t steal away every night to the sports bar for a cold beer and a baseball game with my buddies.
But Sundays are different. The whole family piles into our 14-passenger van (after wrestling the kids into their church clothes--ever tried to keep a tie on a three-year-old?), and we drive to church. Now, we go to a Reformed Presbyterian church, so there are none of those emasculated “We are the World” kind of sermons by a pastor of indeterminate sex. We Calvinists like our preaching cooked medium rare with all the juices still there. It makes for a very mentally stimulating hour.
After feeding my mind and spirit, it’s time to feed the belly. All the women at church bring potluck—and it’s always good stuff like southern fried chicken, taco casseroles, homemade chili, beefsteak tomatoes, black-eyed peas and butter beans, cake and ice cream, and sweet tea.
The sanctuary is converted into a big dining room, and everyone fills their plates—women and children first, of course. When the men get their plates, we convene around a big table and start talking about whatever it is we fancy at the moment: the sermon, systematic theology, politics, sports, business, our gun collections, etc.
After Sunday dinner, the day has just begun. I’ll generally take the family over to my friend Tom’s house. My wife and I will put the youngest kids down for their naps and the older kids either grab a book to read or head for the lake in the backyard. I head for the screened-in back porch overlooking the lake. But first, I take a detour to one of the bedrooms and put on my Sunday afternoon uniform: my favorite pair of blue jeans and a Hawaiian shirt that I affectionately call the “Sabbath shirt.”
On the back porch, my friend Tom and I will sit and watch the kids swim in the lake or jump on a trampoline while we mix ice cold gin and tonics. Then I’ll light up a Churchill or Torpedo. We’ll spend a couple hours thus composed enjoying God’s good creation until it’s time to prepare supper.
Supper on Sunday is a very special event. The men cook a big country breakfast, including piles of scrambled eggs, heaps of sausage and bacon, stacks of pancakes, sliced tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and peppers, and a big pot of grits, salted and buttered to perfection.
By the end of the day, my “Sabbath shirt” smells of tobacco, juniper, and bacon fat. Glorious. It’s all I can do to make myself throw it in the wash. But, alas, after many happy Sabbath suppers, it is time to retire my “Sabbath shirt.” I would love to pass on this distinguished heritage to the Hawaiiabera.
Sunday is another busy day, as I have work from 12 to 5 (I know it's supposed to be a day of rest, but when you're young and in school, you sometimes have to bend the rules a little), and then it's on to Church. I meet my girlfriend there, and then we spend the rest of the evening together until it's time for her to go home.
I should mention that I'm dating the most amazing woman that I've ever met. She has no problem with me being the leader in the relationship, in fact she really enjoys it when I take the lead. She and I have a number of common interests (such as art, animation, and of course we're both Catholic), but on things were we differ, she has no problem with it. She doesn't mind one bit that I'll go out to see a Western with some buddies, in fact, she encourages it. And she actually likes the fact that I'm not "metro," she actually calls me a "retrosexual," because I like being chivalrous and manly. And, of course, wouldn't you know? She just happens to be a very feminine womans' woman. She knows it and she loves it. Pretty cool, huh?
Roll Tide!!
Sundays are reserved for church and family.
I guess I spend most of my weekend wondering when I'll finally get a real weekend.
Saturday - Honey do's. And maybe some college football on the tube. And a big plus if I fire up the BBQ and grill something.
Sunday - My church day. Give back to the One who gave me all.
Relaxing typically consists of either reading, listening to music, riding my bike around town, or hanging out with friends.
Sundays are the same as Saturdays except replace work with church.
I have lived in the U.S.V.I. and Hawaii.....and LOVE to see a man in the manly Hawaiiabera shirt! I have looked for them in Arizona......and am so happy to have found this site.....and will happily accept a coupon from you to purchase one or more.
Sunday - Going to church, studying the Bible
Assuming there is nothing spectacular going on, an average weekend would consist of waking up around 7 AM, then going to rowing practice for a few hours.
Then come home by the afternoon (perhaps breakfast with my crew?) and do either homework, or just play video games on the computer. After dinner I often go out with friends either to parties, shows, whatever happens to catch our eye.
On race weekends, however, wake up 3 hours before my race. Eat eggs, toast, drink some apple juice, and head down to the race course (assuming we're racing at the Henley, if it's somewhere I have to drive to, then I'm waking up earlier). Relax for a bit, stretch, go through pre-race activities.
Go out on the course with my crew and just row my heart out, do the best that we can do (which is often VERY well).
Get off the water, talk with crew/coaches, eat an apple, discuss what we're doing later. Go home, shower, potentially eat. Go out with my crew and celebrate :)
If you can't tell, I'm a rower :)
What always amazes me is we intend to spend an hour walking but usually spend at 2-3 hours. Nothing like leaving the stress of modern life behind.
Recently a lot of time has been spent at church on repair and painting projects. First Saturdays is men's group time where we have breakfast (eggs, potatoes and moose sausage) and then on to the fixit list.
Both the sports & especially the Scouting are ways to help develop them into decent men. The weekends are for going to their games/practices, camping, hiking, working in the yard and keeping very active.
As the dad, I like to kick back a little bit and a fine shirt like that would be very fitting at our cookouts/bonfires at the house. Or even just lounging in the hammock reading a book.
Love the website.
My weekend always catches sleep.
One of my favorite things to do one weekend a month is to invite our friends to come over with their favorite side dish, and then fire up the grill with a large roast of beef or pork. Family, friends, good food, laughter and lively discussion... what better way to recharge?
